Privacy Policy

The short version: your music never leaves your device.

Last updated: August 10, 2026

1. Introduction

Neo Music (the “app”) is developed and published by extrastu. We take your privacy seriously, and this policy explains how the app handles information relating to you.

The bottom line: the app does not collect, upload, or share any personal data. Your music library and usage data never leave your device.

2. What we do not collect

The app has no servers or backend infrastructure of its own. We do not collect any of the following:

  • Personal identification information (name, email address, phone number, etc.)
  • Accounts or credentials (the app has no account system)
  • Location, contacts, photos, microphone input, or anything unrelated to its features
  • Device identifiers or advertising identifiers (IDFA)
  • Usage analytics, crash logs, or telemetry of any kind

3. Access to your Apple Music library

The app needs access to your Apple Music library in order to display your albums as cards and play them. You remain in full control of this permission:

  • On first launch, iOS asks for your consent, which you may decline; without consent the app stays on its welcome screen.
  • You can revoke access at any time under Settings > Neo Music; the app then returns to its initial state.
  • The app reads only the minimum metadata needed for display and playback, such as album titles, artists, artwork, and date added. None of this information is sent to any server of ours.

4. Data stored on your device

To make card browsing, widgets, and Live Activities work, the app keeps the following data locally on your device:

  • An album cache: album titles, artists, artwork URLs, accent colors, and date added, used to open your library quickly.
  • A widget snapshot: album title and artist summaries, playback state, and whether Pro is unlocked, read by Home Screen widgets and the Control Center control.
  • Artwork thumbnails: small cover images shown in the Dynamic Island and Live Activities.

All of this data stays on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere and never readable by us. Deleting the app removes all of it.

5. Network requests

The only network activity in the app is downloading album artwork from Apple’s content network via MusicKit, used to compute card colors and to display covers in the Dynamic Island. The app makes no requests to any third-party endpoints. Playback is handled by the system’s Apple Music player, and audio streaming is likewise managed by Apple.

6. In-app purchases

The app offers a one-time, non-consumable purchase (Neo Music Pro). All transactions are processed entirely by Apple’s App Store billing system. We never see or store any payment information; purchase records are managed by Apple under its own privacy policy. You can restore your purchase at any time from Settings.

7. Widgets and Live Activities

Everything shown by Home Screen widgets, the Control Center control, the Dynamic Island, and Lock Screen Live Activities is read from the local snapshot and artwork thumbnails described above. No network transmission or reporting of any kind is involved.

8. Third-party services

The app integrates no third-party SDKs whatsoever — no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, push, or attribution services. Only Apple’s first-party frameworks are used (MusicKit, StoreKit, ActivityKit, WidgetKit, and so on). Apple’s handling of your Apple Music and App Store data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.

9. Children’s privacy

Because the app collects no data at all, it is suitable for users of all ages.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update this page and revise the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be announced through App Store release notes or similar channels. By continuing to use the app, you agree to the updated policy.
